Hui Up was a program of Blue Planet Foundation to encourage energy savings by forming a “hui” or group to buy energy efficient appliances at large discounts. The program initially targeted the relatively isolated island of Molokai. Island residents were able to recycle their old appliances, get new appliances shipped to their island for free while still enjoying a big discount over retail.  Adding up the electric savings to the homeowner and the savings to the infrastructure investment made this a big win for everyone.
